Share your photos and videos at the CMV Conference
Want to show off your child and tell your story at this year’s
CMV Public Health and Policy Conference?
The National CMV Foundation is seeking photos of children affected by congenital CMV for display at the upcoming conference this September in Austin, Texas. Conference organizers are also requesting video submissions from parents discussing their experience with CMV and how it has affected their life.
Sara Doutre, member of the conference planning committee and mother of a daughter born with congenital CMV, states that “the parent videos were such a big hit at the 2014 National conference because they told the story of CMV and showed it’s real impact on families affected by the virus.”
Photos will be displayed in the lobby of the conference and videos will be played prior to each plenary session. Conference organizers expect upwards of 500 participants, including clinicians, researchers, public health professionals, university faculty, as well as parents and students.
“I shared
our video because we wanted the devastation and betrayal that we felt when our son was diagnosed with a preventable disease, about which we had no knowledge, to reach policy makers and physicians,” says Kathleen Muldoon, mother of a son born with congenital CMV. “When I saw it on the big screen it was both like having an open wound displayed for public comment, but it was also healing.”
Please send photo and video submissions to cmvstories@gmail.com before the deadline of June 30th. Videos should be 2-3 minutes in length and can be filmed with a cellphone or other handheld device.
