Football Fundraising Ideas

Football Fundraising Ideas

Last month, the National CMV blog featured our Co-Founder and Board Member, John Spytek. When John is not spending time with family or working to achieve the mission of the National CMV Foundation, John is the Director of Player Personnel for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And during his playing days, John was a linebacker for the Michigan Wolverines.

No doubt, John’s football ties – and in turn our organization’s – run deep.

We’re excited to share just a couple examples of awareness and fundraising campaigns John has made possible this year, with a bit of help from his fans and friends at the Bucs', plus some awesome football themed fundraising ideas.

Recruit your heavy-hitting friends.

During the 2017 football season, John got with a couple of his Bucs' friends, Ali Marpet and Jason Licht to show their support during the My Cause My Cleats campaign. My Cause My Cleats is a collaboration between the NFL and its players, league-wide.

We’ve all got friends and contacts that we know will help bring our awareness and fundraising efforts to the next level. Get those folks on board early so you can really take advantage of their reach.

Check out the Bucs' My Cause My Cleats campaign video!

Make it a team effort.

In June, John recruited friends for a fun fundraiser at CycleBar Tampa Bay. It's much more fun to sweat it out with friends!

Say thank you.

Thank you to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their continued support of the National CMV Foundation. We look forward to our continued work together. Good luck to John and the Bucs in their regular season opener this Sunday vs. the New Orleans Saints.

Share your love of the game.

If you’re a football fan like John, here are a few ways to kickoff a fun football themed fundraiser.
  1. Winner’s Pledge – ask your supporters to contribute a certain amount of money each week if their team wins a game. You could have people ‘sign up’ and receive weekly messages that remind them to contribute and provide them with your campaign link. Click here to create a Crowdrise fundraising page.
  1. Tailgate Event – grilling and having a good time go hand-in-hand with football games. Invite your supporters to gather for a pre-game party and charge for entry.
  1. Game Day Viewing Party – Invite supporters to a game day viewing party. Host a raffle or auction to raise funds.
